Happy summer!
We've just left the month of May behind us, and I hope it was a good month for you. For me and Rich - my husband and musical partner for almost 19 years - it has been an incredible and somewhat surreal time:
We played songs and were interviewed on CBS Morning News, Chicago
A few days prior, we were special guests at the Steve and Johnnie Show on WGN Radio Chicago. They are some of the kindest, sweetest people I've ever met. Here are the videos of the performances, and here's the interview (41 minutes into the podcast).
I'm very honored to perform at Jillith Fair - a Loving Tribute to Jill Sobule at SPACE in Chicago on June 7. Other artists who will join me and Rich at Space include: Gerald Dowd, The Empty Pockets, Heather & Paul McComas, Ike Reilly, Leslie Nuss, Anne Heaton, Anna Vogelzang, Tommi Zender and Rachel Drew, and The Long Farewells. We are mentioned in Variety Magazine in their story.
I was very happily surprised when a fellow artist told me that the readers of Americana Highways voted on Stories I Only Tell My Friends as one of their Top 10 favorite albums in a readers poll. Jason Isbell, Alison Krauss, Mike Farris, Janiva Magness and Bobby Rush… that's some very honorable company to be in.
Last but not least, Rich and I got to make a new friend with another kind soul: Martin McCormack - a touring musician with Switchback, a painter, writer, great conversationalist and interviewer. In his Strung Out Podcast, we got to talk about creating a life in music, songwriting and band leadership in a two-part video interview. Here's part 1 and part 2.
Lots of shows are coming up this summer, mostly in Chicago, but we've got one in New York at Shrine on July 30, and we're looking into shows in Italy as well!
