We had such an incredible time performing at Jarvis Square Pottery in Chicago - one of my favorite music and art venues in the U.S. Here's "I Just Knew" with a full house helping us start it off:
We're very thankful that David Sameshima was there filming and taking pictures.
Now it's October, and we (meaning the band) have just started working on one of my new songs, and also adding 3-4 vocal harmonies to our live set, now that everybody in the band is singing. We can't wait for you to hear this live! Our next show with the full 5-piece band will be on Nov 15 at Art Makers Outpost in Evanston, with special guests Naomi Ashley and Jon Williams doing a duo set.
Other than that, Rich's and my birthday (October 16) is coming up. We did an early celebration a few weeks ago, traveling to Italy! We visited Milan, Bologna, Calabria and Sicily. It was wonderful, and I feel like I left a part of me in Palermo…
And if that wasn't enough, I'm going to Kolkata, India tomorrow for a few days to do a little bit of work (besides performing, teaching guitar and doing occasional freelance writing, I'm also a Swedish translator and interpreter). I've never been to India, and I'm hoping I can hire a tour guide to show me a few sites in Kolkata during my one day off, like the Kali temple, New Market and maybe also the convent where Mother Theresa worked.
I'm very grateful I get to have these experiences, and hope you'll have a wonderful October with many bright moments.
Cheers,
Nikki
