As the summer slowly turns into fall, I'm grateful for the shows we've played and the opportunity I had to spend 13 days in Hong Kong and 5 days in Japan. A part of me still seems to be there, as I've been making miso soup and drinking genmaicha tea...
I've been saddened by the losses we've had of true artists like Glen Hansard and Dolly Parton, who also seemed to be such kind souls and bright, shining lights in the world.
I've also been very inspired and moved by Sue Foley's book, Guitar Women, which is a collection of her very honest conversations with trailblazers Carol Kaye, Marian Hall, Etta Baker, Bonnie Raitt, Nancy Wilson, Barbara Lynn, Jennifer Batten, June Millington, Suzy Quatro, Vicky Peterson, Kathy Valentine, Del Rey, Sharon Isbin, Joan Armatrading, Charo, Liona Boyd, Rory Block, Cindy Cashdollar, Lita Ford, Alice Artzt, Alice Stuart, and Ellen McIlwaine. Sue's introductions of each artist are beautifully written, and I highly recommend the book.
We've got some great September shows coming up, so visit my shows page. Have a great rest of your summer!
